Marie Bouzkova faces Hailey Baptiste in the second round of the WTA Bogota 250 (Copa Colsanitas). The Czech top seed swept aside her first round opponent Rebecca Marino 6-0, 6-3 signalling her intention to get her clay court season off to a strong start. Bouzkova didn't enjoy the best hard court start to the year, her best performance benig a quarterfinal in Auckland at the start of the year. The 25-year-old right-hander has won just three of her last ten games as a result of her hard-court travails, but she showed a great deal more composure and quality in that first round win, taking just under 75 minutes to claim the victory, landing an impressive 83% of her break points, as well as saving 100% of the ones she faced in that impressive win. 

American Hailey Baptiste has enjoyed her best season as a professional and is now a career high ranking of 96th in the world. She was impressive in her 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 first round victory over Slovenia's Tamara Zidansek, who has performed well in this tournament in the past and is something of a clay court specialist. The American has a good record on clay too, winning 80 and losing 46 of the 126 games she has played on the surface. She impressed at Indian Wells back at the start of March, pushing 18th seed Madison Keys hard in the second round before losing the third set on a tie break. Baptiste's star is in the ascendancy, but she faces perhaps the toughest possible test here in Bogota against the number 1 seed.
