It's only their first appearance in the Hong Kong Open, and both Marcos Giron and Alexander Bublik are into the semifinals. Interestingly, despite being the lower-ranked player and least favourite to win this game, Giron has beaten Bublik three times in their four career meetings. And the only Giron loss was their first meeting, where he threw a 1-0 lead in sets. While playing the world no.11 isn't exactly a favourable matchup, Giron would feel he has a tangible shot at winning his first ATP Tour title against a very familiar face.

However, that would be truly difficult with the kind of form Bublik is in. All prior meetings with Giron were in 2023 and before, and Bublik has gone on to win five titles ever since. Last year was especially prolific, as Bublik won four titles in 2025, double of his previous record in a calendar year.
