Madison Keys, 17th seed, continues with her tour return and will take on fourth seed Elena Rybakina next in Miami. They will battle in the fourth round with the winner playing either Maria Sakkari or Anna Kalinskaya in the quarterfinals. This will be Madison Key’s fifth match of the season. The American made a belated start to the year and made her first appearance two weeks ago at Indian Wells. She has been in good form and doesn't look to be rusty as she has won three of her four matches. The 29-year-old, making her 13th appearance in Miami, has won both her rounds without dropping a set. She defeated Wang Xinyu by the loss of 10 games in the last round. The win allowed her to advance to the fourth round here for the first time since making the quarters in 2016. Keys, who has won two of three meetings with Rybakina, has moved up one place to 17th in the live ranking.

Elena Rybakina won the last time she was paired up against Keys. This was two seasons ago on an indoor hard court in Ostrava. She will now seek to tie this series and also inch closer to at least another final appearance in Miami. The world number four is defending the 650 points she earned here last season as she finished as runner-up. Rybakina has won nine of her last 10 fixtures and has compiled a 19-3 record this season. Two of her wins have come in Miami with the most recent being a three-set battle with the qualifier Taylor Townsend. Rybakina has won two titles so far in 2024, Brisbane and Abu Dhabi, and was a finalist in Doha.
