A Sunday afternoon tipoff time in the NBA sees the in-form LA Clippers hosting the tumbling Brooklyn Nets in this interconference matchup. Finally fully healthy for what feels like years, the Clippers are in the ascendency in the West and are beginning to look like serious title contenders. Their 26-14 record places them fourth in the standings, 1.5 games behind the third and fourth-placed Nuggets and Thunder, as well as 3.5 games behind leaders Minnesota. After losing a four-point game to the Timberwolves, the Clippers were able to respond with a statement double-digit victory over the Thunder. LA secured the 128-117 win over OKC last Tuesday with Paul George’s 38 points leading the way, a season high for the 33-year-old. The victory was the eighth in the last 10 for the Clippers. They’ll come into this one well-rested with four days since last taking to the court.

The Brooklyn Nets are in a weird spot. They aren’t good enough to secure a spot in the playoffs but they aren’t bad enough where they are in complete rebuild mode. That leaves them as a below-average team whose goal for the season appears to be to try to sneak the eighth seed by way of the play-in tournament if they can finish 10th. Having the massive Ben Simmons contract on the books limits what they can do and it’s hard to imagine another team willingly taking the former All-Star off their hands. As things currently stand, Brooklyn is 17-24 and sitting 11th-place in the East. They’re coming off a 130-112 win over the Lakers on Friday, snapping a four game losing streak. They’ll remain in LA for the second leg of their Hollywood double-header before heading back to BKN to take on city rivals the Knicks.
