Lois Boisson took the world by storm at the French Open and will be eyeing another good run at WTA Hamburg. She will meet Julia Grabher on her Hamburg debut, which also doubles up as the first meeting between these two. Below is our prediction, with a match against Raluca Serban or Tamara Korpatsch awaiting the winner.

Coming to Hamburg as the fifth seed, Boisson, who is 60th in the live rankings, had a fine run at Roland Garros, going all the way to the semis and knocking out three seeded players in her wake. The Frenchwoman has, however, failed to replicate this shape in matches that followed.

Boisson fell in the Wimbledon qualifiers and lasted just two rounds at Bastad. Her hopes of advancing here will be pinned on confidence based on her run of seven wins in the last 10 matches.

Julia Grabher has also had a rough patch in her recent matches. She is coming off a first-round defeat at WTA Bastad. That marked her third straight defeat, following on her early elimination at Wimbledon. 

She had also lost earlier at the Grado Challenger, in the quarter-final. Placed 135h in the live rankings, Grabher’s hopes for a deep run here will face a massive challenge, the Austrian having won just twice in her last seven matches.

On clay, she lost four times in the last six outings, failing to win a set in the defeats.
