Two top three teams face off in matchday eight of the German Bundesliga as second-place RB Leipzig hosts third-placed Freiburg on Saturday. We’ve got a prediction ready for this intriguing match between Die Roten Bullen and Breisgau-Brasilianer.
It’s been an excellent start to the 2024/25 Bundesliga season for Leipzig who, along with Bayern Munich, remain the only two unbeaten teams in the league. Five wins and two draws from seven fixtures has them tied with the Bavarian giants but trailing on goal differential.
Leipzig’s performance in the Champions League, however, has been the polar opposite. A 1-0 home loss to Liverpool in their most recent outing marked the teams third loss from three in Europe’s premier club competition.
Their opponents are also experiencing a fantastic start to the league season. Freiburg look to be well on their way to securing a return to the top six after their 10th-place finish last year. The visitors have five wins from seven outings, putting them on 15 points.
Freiburg’s last match saw them win their second game in a row after a 3-1 home victory over Augsburg. The visitors have won their last two consecutive away matches and three of their four away trips across all competitions.
