Leinster are again going deep in the European Rugby Champions Cup. The United Rugby Championship club are home to PREM Rugby's Sale Sharks in the quarter-finals. Find out more about this in our match prediction.
The home side have an excellent record in this competition. They have won the title on four occasions and only Stade Toulousain have won more than them. Last weekend saw them get a convincing home victory over Edinburgh to reach the last eight. If they can win this match against the Sharks, then the semi-finals will see them move into the last four which takes place on the first weekend of May.
Sale Sharks were the only winning away side in last week's last 16. They won away at fellow PREM Rugby club Harlequins but their opponents in that game are struggling for form. They will know full well that this game against Leinster is going to be far more difficult for them.

Leinster - Sale Sharks: Form Analysis
Not since 2018 has Leinster won the European Rugby Champions Cup. That was the fourth time that they have won this competition and between 2022 and 2024, Leinster lost in the final for three years in a row.
They are again going strong in this competition and made an impressive start by winning all four of their pool games. Only Glasgow Warriors and Bordeaux Begles also achieved that feat. They finished three points above Harlequins in their pool.
Pressure right from the start by Leinster.
Last weekend saw them beat Edinburgh 49-31 at home. They will hope to get off to another strong start after scoring two tries in the first eight minutes last weekend. Six of their seven home league games in the URC have been won this season, including each of the last five.
Sale Sharks finished third in their pool with a couple of wins but two defeats. Both of their away games were played in France with a win at Clermont but a 77-7 thrashing at Stade Toulousain. Last weekend saw them get an away win at Harlequins to reach this quarter-final.
They are in the last eight of this competition for the first time since the 2021-22 season and have never progressed further. In PREM Rugby, they are in seventh place and have lost nine of their 12 games with all six away fixtures being lost.

Leinster & Sale Sharks Squad Analysis
Sam Prendergast will again be absent for Leinster and has been left out of their squad. Garry Ringrose is back from injury and he will be partnering Jamie Osborne in the centre. As a result of this, Rieko Ioane will be on the wing this weekend.
He's used to playing in that position having played there for the All-Blacks. He was moved there for the last 20 minutes of last weekend's match against Edinburgh and impressed with his performance.
Key absences for Sale.
Sale Sharks have injury and suspension problems ahead of this weekend's European Rugby Champions Cup quarter-final. They will be without hooker Nathan Jibulu who has been given a six week suspension after biting another player during last week's match against Harlequins.
He will be replaced by Ethan Caine who will be making his first appearance of the season in this competition.
The PREM Rugby side will also be without their front-row pair. A dislocated shoulder has ruled out Bevan Rodd, while Luke Cowan-Dickie has a suspected broken wrist or forearm. Both injuries were sustained last weekend.
That piles on the pressure for Sale who despite a couple of away wins in this competiton have lost all of their matches played on the road in PREM Rugby. Rob du Preez is back in the starting line-up.
They will need to try and keep in the game and avoid if possible conceding early tries..

Our Leinster vs Sale Sharks Prediction
Leinster are the worthy favorites to reach the last four of the 2025-26 European Rugby Champions Cup. They have a 100 percent record in this season's competition and are extremely strong on home soil.
Sale Sharks bucked the trend last weekend and produced the only away victory in the last 16. They will find it difficult to do that this weekend and all six of their away PREM Rugby games have all been lost this season. Our main Leinster v Sale Sharks prediction is Leinster wins on a -18.5 handicap.
