After the disappointment of losing the UEFA Super Cup, Atalanta will start their 2024–25 domestic campaign against Lecce. This Serie A match at Stadio Via del Mare on Monday comes with the prediction of a win for La Dea.

Lecce had an indifferent domestic season last year, failing to build on a bright start. They were unbeaten after the first five matches last season in Serie A but ended in 14th place. That was just three points above the relegation zone, although it helped them stay in the top flight for a third straight season.

The hosts ended their previous season with two defeats and three draws from their last five league matches. Hopes of ending that winless streak they need to improve their recent form, as Lecce have lost three of their last four matches in the pre-season. Atalanta will hope they can cash in on that poor streak of their hosts, as they come here on the back of a 2-0 loss in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid.

That made it four defeats out of their last five, including three in a row, for the visitors. That shouldn't be too much of a worry for La Dea, though, as they ended last season with six wins out of their last seven Serie A matches. That included three straight wins on the road, and Atalanta will hope to continue that form and start this season with a win.
