We'll have a Serbian player in the final of the hard court Belgrade Open. Hamad Medjedovic faces Laslo Djere in Friday's semi-final and both are wild cards. Here's our match prediction.
For the winner, there's a final against either fourth seed Jiri Lehecka or qualifier Denis Shapovalov. Medjedovic won the Next Generation title in 2023 but failed to get past round one of any Grand Slam this year. He did get to a Challenger Tour final in September.
He's 156th in the latest rankings but is up to 123rd after reaching this semi-final. The 21-year-old has beaten two seeds this week beginning with sixth seed Brandon Nakashima in round one. After a win against Aleksandar Kovacevic, he then beat third seed Francisco Cerundolo on Thursday.
Laslo Djere was down at 141st in the last ranking list and had lost his last three matches, two of them to lower ranked players. He did get to the last 16 in Stockholm recently but has been struggling for consistency all year.
This week has seen him beat wild card Stan Wawrinka, lucky loser Duje Ajdukovic and unseeded Fabian Marozsan without dropping a set. He's now 111th in the live list but we tip Medjedovic to get the victory.
