The second round of matches at the 2026 Indian Premier League kicks off with the Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday afternoon. KKR and SRH are fourth and fifth in the league standings, respectively. Let’s get into the match prediction.
The Kolkata Knight Riders delivered a solid batting effort in their opening match of this season, but an underwhelming bowling display saw them lose the match by six wickets to the Mumbai Indians.
Ajinkya Rahane and rising star Angkrish Raghuvanshi both recorded half-centuries, but none of their bowlers managed to take more than one wicket or go for less than 10 runs per over.
This is the Knight Riders' first home game of the season. These sides met twice in the league phase last season and won one game apiece.
Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will also be hoping to get in the win column here after losing the first game of this season’s IPL to defending champions RCB by six wickets.
Despite the defeat, Ishan Kishan was the top scorer in the match with 80 runs and sits second in the Orange Cap standings. David Payne was the only SRH bowler to claim two scalps.
The Sunrisers are still without the services of Pat Cummins, while Jack Edwards is ruled out. KKR are missing Akash Deep, Harshit Rana and Matheesha Patirana.

Our Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Prediction
We said at the start of this year’s IPL that due to the absences of Akash Deep, Harshit Rana and Matheesha Patirana, KKR would need to lean on their batting in the early stages of this competition, and they did that against MI, scoring 220 runs.
Since joining the IPL, SRH have built a reputation as big-hitters, and while they lost their opening match, it’s clear that their strength this season remains in the batting lineup. We’re expecting a high-scoring encounter in this one. Our Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad prediction is over 17.5 sixes.
