Kei Nishikori rolled back the years in the first round of this tournament. He now faces the eighth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in round two of this ATP hard court tournament in Montreal. Here's our prediction of this match.

Nishikori was the world number four back in 2015. At the start of this tournament he was down at 576th. Round one saw him take on unseeded American Alex Michelsen. He dropped the first set but stormed back to win the next two.

His last tournament was the Paris Olympics, losing in the first round of the singles and doubles on the same day. Injuries have blighted his career and before this week he'd only played five singles matches. His only victory had come on clay in the French Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the world number 11 and has gone well in his last two tournaments. Both were on clay though with one semi-final and a last eight reached. Now he returns to hard courts and has had some success on this surface already in 2024.

A quarter-final was reached in Acapulco and he got to the last four in Los Cabos. He's 1-1 in previous matches against Nishikori. Their first meeting was six years ago with Nishikori winning a match played in Tokyo.

Their last match was three years ago with Tsitsipas getting the victory. The winner of this match will face either 12th seed Ugo Humbert, Arthur Fils or Nuno Borges in round two. We tip Tsitsipas to win in straight sets.
