His win in the Swiss Indoor Championships took Roger Federer to 99 singles titles. He'll be keen to reach the landmark 100 sooner rather than later but hasn't won this title since 2012, the only time he's even reached the final. Recent form is good and he also reached the last eight of the Shanghai Masters, beating Nishikori on the way. His schedule is lighter than it has been in the past so he's still relatively fresh for these end of season tournaments, something that might not have been the case in the past. So far in this tournament, he received a walkover in the second round and then beat Fabio Fognini in the third round in straight sets.

Nishikori has had a good year with a quarter final at Wimbledon and a semi-final appearance at the US Open. Recently he lost in the final in Vienna, losing to Kevin Anderson, a defeat he avenged last night in Paris. He's had several other runs to the last four and reached the final in the Japan Open but has had a couple of losses to players ranked well below him which is worrying. He's lost his last five matches to Federer and a sixth looks to be on the way here, go for Federer to get the win.
