Cori Gauff, the second seed in Stuttgart this week, has made it to the quarter-finals, where she will face seventh seed Karolina Muchova. This is the third time this season they are squaring off. Read on to find our prediction for this match.

Karolina Muchova is having her best run of form in Stuttgart. The Czech star, who is back in this event after a five-year hiatus, had never won a main draw tie at the Porsche Grand Prix.

Now she is three wins away from the title. Muchova, one of the top performers in the WTA this season, outlasted Elise Mertens in the last round.

After losing the first set 6-1, the world number 12 held Mertens to just three games thereafter and won the decider 6-0. Champion in this year’s event in Doha, Muchova has now improved to a 20-4 record.

Cori Gauff has never lost when up against Muchova. She has won six times in this fixture, all on hard courts. Gauff defeated Muchova less than a month ago on her way to finishing as a runner-up in Miami.

She had also defeated the 28-year-old via a decider at the Australian Open. With this dominance, Gauff will be confident of avoiding yet another quarter-final exit in Stuttgart.

The world number three has been eliminated from this event in the quarters in each of her last two appearances. Gauff, who arrived in Stuttgart after her run in Miami, defeated Liudmila Samsonova in straights to begin her week.
