Karolina Muchova vs Coco Gauff Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA China Open

The 2024 China Open will see fourth seed Cori Gauff and the unseeded Karolina Muchova battle it out for the title. This will be their third career meeting and the second as a championship match at tour level and we have a prediction.

Muchova is having quite the year after recovering from injury. The Czech star had a belated start to the season and only played her first match in June. The long hiatus was just that, and she returned having not lost a step.

This is her second final of the season after finishing as runner-up in Palermo. A finalist at the US Open last month, Muchova has been impeccable in Beijing. She has won five of her six matches in straights and defeated two top-10 opponents.

After defeating world number two Aryna Sabalenka in the quarters, the 28-year-old moved on to eliminate Qinwen Zheng by the loss of seven games. Muchova’s performances in Beijing have propelled her to 30th in the live ranking.

Gauff finally managed to end her semi-final hoodoo this season with a three-set win over Paula Badosa. The American, who is through to her second final of the year, had lost five successive semi-finals.

With her dominant record in this matchup, she will be confident of continuing her incredible record in championship matches. Gauff has defeated Muchova twice previously – once in a final, in Cincinnati last year.

She won seven of eight tour finals she has played in. Her only defeat came at the French Open in 2022, the only time she played a final outside hard courts. The world number six battled from a set down once again in Beijing to reach the final.

In her last three matches, she did exceptionally to overcome a first-set defeat. Victory in Beijing will bump Gauff back up to fourth in the WTA world rankings.
