Karen Khachanov vs Francisco Cerundolo Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Monte Carlo Masters

Karen Khachanov is the 15th seed in the Monte Carlo Masters. He takes on unseeded Francisco Cerundolo in round two of this outdoor clay court tournament. For the winner the seeded opponent in round three is fourth seed Daniil Medvedev. Khachanov is 18th in the live rankings but a win over Cerundolo will take him to 17th. The Russian is 18th in the Live ATP Race and he's had a consistent 2024 so far. Round one of this tournament saw him win a potentially tricky match against Cameron Norrie. He won that in straight sets but it took 144 minutes and 25 games to do so. Khachanov has won one hard court title this year and will hope for more success in the clay court season. He's twice reached the last eight at Roland Garros but has never made it past round three in this Masters 1000 tournament. Khachanov has won all three of his previous matches against Cerundolo. All have been played on hard courts though 

Francisco Cerundolo took a set off Khachanov in their recent match at the Miami Open. He's 21st in the live rankings but only 43rd in the ATP Race. The first round of this tournament saw him beat lucky loser Daniel Altmaier in straight sets, though he needed a tie-break to win the second. Cerundolo needed that win as he'd lost his last two matches. The most recent defeat was on clay when being beaten by Luciano Darderi in the US Clay Court Championships. Earlier this year he played on the South American clay court tour with mixed results. His first two matches were lost but he then got to the last four in Rio. The Argentinian is playing in this tournament for only the second time and is yet to get past this stage. Khachanov showed good form and we tip him to win this match.
