Jannik Sinner's unbeaten run has continued at Indian Wells. The third seed takes on Jiri Lehecka who is the 32nd seed in this outdoor hard court championship. Sinner has now played 15 matches in 2024 and not lost one of them. His impressive run has seen the Italian win both the Australian Open (played on an outdoor hard court) and the indoor tournament held in Rotterdam. He's up to second in the live rankings which is a new career high. In his last 21 singles matches, Sinner has only lost one match and that was to Novak Djokovic. This tournament has seen Sinner make it to the last eight without dropping a set. He's beaten Thanasi Kokkinakis, 25th seed Jan-Lennard Struff and in the last round, the 16th seeded Ben Shelton. Only 17 games have been lost so far by Sinner, six in the tie-break that decided the first set against Shelton.

Jiri Lehecka was ranked 32nd when this Masters 1000 tournament began. His run to the quarter finals has taken him to 27th and beating Sinner would see him climb another four places and equal his career high. Lehecka has won one title this year, that was the outdoor hard court Adelaide International tournament in January, He recently made it to the last eight in Dubai but had to retire when a set and 4-1 down against Alexander Bublik. He's had no injury worries at Indian Wells where he had never previously got past the second round.
