Top seeded Jessica Pegula has a great chance of winning a second title of the year. The American is the only seed left in this outdoor hard court tournament and faces unseeded Yanina Wickmayer in the last four. For the winner there's a final against either Yuan Yue or Emina Bektas. Pegula was the world number four at the start of this Seoul Open and will remain in that position even if winning the title. The 29-year-old will also stay fifth in the WTA Race but her place in the end-of-season Tour Finals is already confirmed. Pegula recently lost to Veronika Kudermetova in the Toray Pan Pacific Open. A win this week will see her win two WTA Tour tournaments in a year for the first time in her career. To get to this last four in Seoul, the top seed has only dropped one set in three matches. The quarter final saw her go a set down to Claire Liu but then won the next two for the loss of only three games.

Yanina Wickmayer was ranked 83rd at the start of this tournament. This run to the last four has seen her rise up to 69thwa and another ten places can be climbed if beating Pegula. It's a far cry from when the Belgian was ranked 12th but that was 13 years ago. The 33-year-old is making her way back up the rankings after time off court due to injury. The year began with her in 323rd position. Most of her best results this year have been on the ITF circuit with two titles won and a couple of hard court finals. This is her second semi-final in recent months, the other being in Warsaw but she didn't beat any top 100 ranked players. No sets have been lost this week and in round two she defeated third seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova, only her second win over a top 100 player this year. The run ends here and we tip Pegula to win in straight sets.
