Unseeded Leylah Fernandez’s progress to the quarter-finals in Cincinnati set up a showdown with sixth-seed Jesica Pegula on Saturday. This will be their second encounter of 2024. Let’s take a look at the match prediction.
Jessica Pegula booked her place in the last eight by beating compatriot Taylor Townsend in the last round in straight sets. She has now won each of her last seven matches. This fine form will have her optimistic of going past this round for the first time.
Pegula, who arrived in Cincinnati after defending her Rogers Cup title, has twice lost in the quarter-finals here. Last year, she fell in the third round. The world number five defeated Fernandez in Miami earlier this year in straight sets and will be hoping for a repeat.
Leylah Fernandez was struggling with her form when she squared off with Pegula in the second round in Miami.
