Sixth seed Jessica Pegula will battle unseeded Karolina Muchova in this year’s US Open semi-finals. From their second meeting this year, the winner will face Emma Navarro or Aryna Sabalenka in the final. Here’s our prediction for the game.

Pegula is in the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time, reaping from her fine form over the last month. The American, who is yet to lose a set in New York, defeated top seed Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals.

She won by the loss of six games against the world number one. Since the season switched back to hard courts, Pegula has been incredible. She won 14 of her last 15 matches, reaching two finals and winning one title.

In this stretch, she defeated Muchova in three sets in Cincinnati. Pegula’s form has propelled her to fourth in the live ranking.

Karolina Muchova has equaled her semi-final result from last year’s US Open. Her run has seen her return to the WTA top 60. Muchova had broken into the WTA top 10 last year after her fourth-round finish here.

An abrupt end to her season though due to injury saw her drop out of the top 100. The Czech player only returned to competitive action in June and has been in superb form. She has so far compiled a 12-4 record, winning six of seven matches on hardcourts.

A finalist in Palermo, Muchova is seeking to advance to her second final of the year and second at a major. She also won all her matches at Flushing Meadows without losing a set. The 28-year-old defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia by the loss of five games in the last round.
