Jessica Pegula faces Barbora Krejcikova in what is their second match in the WTA Finals. Both these players lost their opening match in the round-robin stage of this outdoor hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.
The other two players in this group are Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff. It was the latter who beat Pegula in straight sets on Sunday, while Krejcikova lost in three sets to Swiatek. Pegula was the runner-up in this tournament last year but really needs to win this match.
Her form has been patchy in recent months and the loss to Gauff on Sunday was her third defeat in four matches. The sixth seed is 1-1 with Krejcikova in previous meetings, both being played on outdoor hard courts.
Barbora Krejcikova is the eighth seed for this tournament and qualified due to her winning the Wimbledon title this year. An upset looked possible on Sunday when the Czech won the first set against Iga Swiatek but ended up losing in three.
The world number 13 has lost five of her last six matches and all were played on hard courts. Only a couple of quarter-finals have been reached by her since that Wimbledon triumph in July.
