Second seed Daniil Medvedev takes on sixth seeded Jannik Sinner in the hard court China Open final. Medvedev is bidding to win his sixth title of the year and his fifth on this surface. The Russian is third in both the live rankings and the ATP Race. He's already clinched his place in the end-of-season Tour Finals. The 27-year-old is in his second consecutive final and in his last 11 matches has only been beaten by Novak Djokovic. This week has seen him only drop one set on his way to this final. That was in the last eight when losing the second set to Ugo Humbert. The semi-final saw him defeat eighth seed Alexander Zverev for the loss of only seven games.

To win the China Open, Jannik Sinner must beat Daniil Medvedev for the first time. All six of their previous meetings have seen the Russian win and all of them have been played on hard courts. This is the third successive match this year in which they have contested a final. The others were in Rotterdam and Miami with Sinner only winning one set. The Italian comes into this match fresh from knocking out top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final. He won that match in straight sets and it's taken him up to fourth in the world rankings which is a new career high. He's also fourth in the Live ATP Race and has all but qualified for the Tour Finals. Two sets have been dropped on his way to his fifth final of the year, all on hard courts. He's won two titles including the Toronto Masters.
