Second seed Karen Khachanov takes on unseeded Jakub Mensik in the final of the ExxonMobil Open in Doha. Khachanov is bidding to win his first ATP singles title since last September when winning a hard court tournament in China. This final in Doha is also being played on a hard court. The Russian has won five ATP Tour finals and each has been on this surface. He's up to 15th in the live rankings, a rise of two places since this tournament began. Khachanov is 13th in the Live ATP Race and winning this final will move him up to 11th. This is his first final of the year and he's made it to this title decider without dropping a set. If he does win this final, he'll have managed to win the title without having to play a seeded opponent. The last four saw him beat Alexei Popyrin for the loss of eight games, six in the first set.
It's been a big week for unseeded Jakub Mensik. He's reached his first ATP Tour final at the age of 18. When this tournament began he was ranked 116th but this run to the final has taken him up to 86th and winning the title can see him go up to 75th. He began the year by reaching the final of a Challenger Tour event held in Brisbane and got to the second round of the Australian Open. This week has seen him take over eight hours to win his four matches. In the semi-final he beat Gael Monfils in three sets, losing the middle one. We tip Khachanov to win this title but keep a look out for Mensik in the future.
