Amstel Gold Predictions & Betting tips - International
by Matthew Newman |
The 2026 edition of the Amstel Gold Race is on Sunday a contest without some of the big guns as they are heading to the Fleche Wallonne on Wednesday or Liege-Bastonne-Liege next Sunday. Let’s take a look over some of the main protagonists and make a prediction.
There are fewer of the ‘big names’ here than there have been in the one-day races so far this season but Remco Evenepoel is one who is turning up. He was third behind Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel in the Tour of Flanders, filling the same spot in this race last year.
The winner of the race last year was Mattias Skjelmose. This is his return to one-day racing, seen most recently in the Tour of the Basque Country where he was 14th overall. 2025 was his first Classic success and he’ll be hoping to back that up.
When the terrain is undulating, Tom Pidcock is often the man that you want on your side. Pidcock is a Swiss army knife of a rider, capable of competing on all terrains as well as mountain biking where he is Olympic champion. He was runner-up in Milan-San Remo last month.
At a bigger price, Ben Healy could be one to consider each way. He was runner-up in this race in 2023 and enjoyed an excellent start to 2025 which included a top 10 finish here. He was his usual attacking self in the Tour of the Basque Country and could be riding into form.
