Two nations going to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with high expectations are set to clash as England and New Zealand go head-to-head. Whereas this will be England’s penultimate friendly match before the main event, it will be New Zealand’s last. The Three Lions carry here seven wins and as many clean sheets in 10 matches. This prediction will favor them over the All Whites, who’ve lost eight of the last 10 games.
In this clash at the Raymond James Stadium, England manager Thomas Tuchel will be hoping for a better outcome in a friendly match. Only two wins came from their last eight friendly matches.
New Zealand are coming off an even poorer run in friendly matches, having lost eight of the last 10. That run includes the FIFA Series matches they played in the last international break. Going by these stats, both coaches can’t wait to be done with the warmups and get into competitive action. Here’s our preview.

England - New Zealand: Form Analysis
England’s two matches before the World Cup begins will be staged in Florida in the US. After this, they are scheduled to face Costa Rica before embarking on competitive action. The last time England met New Zealand was 35 years ago, the two nations facing off twice in five days.
Both matches ended in England’s favor (1-0 and 2-0). England look to be in shape to extend this run, having won seven straight matches away from home. In fact, the only time they lost a game outside England, it was against a formidable Spain side in the Euro Championship final. The Three Lions have, however, struggled in friendly matches, winning just twice in the last eight.
England have kept seven clean sheets in 10 matches and conceded five goals.
New Zealand, 85th in the FIFA rankings, are 81 places behind England, but it isn’t just their form that confirms them as underdogs here. The All Whites have only managed one win in their last 10 matches and lost eight times in the same period.
Ahead of this game, Darren Bazeley will be more concerned at their 4-0 defeat to Haiti in their first friendly a few days ago. Their preparedness has also been put to question after failing to score in three of their last four matches. Away from home, they are winless in six matches, losing five and scoring just twice.

England & New Zealand Squad Analysis
Harry Kane is set to return to the England setup, offering Thomas Tuchel a massive boost. In the last international break, the Bayern Munich forward was out, and the team struggled, scoring once in the two matches. With 78 goals in 112 international matches for England, Kane bears the hopes of a nation. He scored 60 goals for his Bundesliga side and will definitely be in the right shape for this game and more.
England are, however, set to be without at least four players – Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Bukayo Saka – all from Arsenal. The four are taking extended time off after their team’s participation in the Champions League final.
With Saka and Madueke out, Tuchel has to improvise on the right wing.
New Zealand’s star man remains Chris Wood. The Nottingham Forest forward has had his struggles with injuries this past season but remains a likely starter here. He is gunning for his 90th cap. Wood has netted 45 goals for his country, and a lot of the All Whites’ fans’ hopes will be placed on his 34-year-old shoulders.
Elijah Just will offer Wood the support he needs, but he will not just play second fiddle. In his latest 15 caps, the Motherwell man has scored seven times, while New Zealand won in each of his nine scoring appearances.

Our England vs New Zealand Prediction
New Zealand and England last met in 1991, facing off twice. England won both matches, scoring three goals and conceding none. A similar trend is expected here, going by the two nations’ recent forms. England have managed seven clean sheets in their last 10 matches, while away from home, their only loss in 15 was against Spain.
New Zealand’s chances in this encounter may be diminished by the fact that they lost eight times in their last 10 friendly matches. They also failed to score in four of their last six away matches. Our prediction for England v New Zealand is for England to win to nil.
England vs New Zealand Alternative Predictions
England wins
England may have done poorly in their recent friendly matches, but New Zealand do not look like a team to trouble the Three Lions.
The All Whites have posted six straight winless outings away from home, and across their last 10 games, they won once and lost eight times. In England’s current form, our second prediction is for a clear win for the Three Lions.
