India will look to ascertain their status as one of the top three favourites in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup when they play arch rivals in Group A on Sunday. This match in Birmingham between the ‘Women in Blue’ and the ‘Women in Green’ could be critical for India, as a loss could be detrimental to their hopes of a top-two finish. With stakes so high, will India back their opening batters to deliver a masterclass? Read on.
Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and South Africa are the other teams in the group from which the top two teams advance to the knockouts.
India are the reigning ICC ODI World Champions, but their best performance in the T20s is finishing as runners-up in 2020. They had a win and a loss in the warm-up games and have also lost six of the last eight T20Is. However, with the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues in the squad, India will back themselves to start well.
Pakistan are struggling to hold itself in a format that’s not been its forte. With only one T20I series win in the last two-and-a-half years – that too against Zimbabwe – and just one win in each of the last four T20 World Cups, it’s unlikely that they could challenge an ambitious India.

Our India vs Pakistan Prediction
India are among the top three favourites to lift this World Cup, although their T20 credentials are still not comprehensive. They are likely to be challenged by South Africa for the second spot in Group A, with Australia expected to top. The ‘Women in Blue’ are heavy favourites to win here against Pakistan, with their arch rivals struggling in recent years to challenge India.
There’s little value in backing India’s win, so we are dipping into the opening partnership charts; hence, our India vs Pakistan prediction is India highest opening partnership.
