India will have one eye on the upcoming Super 8 fixtures as they wind up their group stage matches with this matchday four game against the Netherlands in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This Group A match in Ahmedabad on Wednesday between the first-placed ‘Men in Blue’ and the fourth-placed ‘Flying Dutchmen’ comes with our prediction of Ishan Kishan scoring at least 29 runs.
The hosts have confirmed their Super 8 spot with a comprehensive 61-run win over Pakistan for their third win in a row. All their victories in this competition have been comprehensive, underlining their status as one of the top favourites. The Netherlands could be out of reckoning for the Super 8 spot if Namibia loses to Pakistan on Tuesday. Even otherwise, their chances of Super 8 qualification are rare.
India could be forgiven for looking ahead in the tournament, but for the Netherlands this is a chance to showcase their credentials on the biggest stage of this format. Can the Dutch serve a thriller or run India close? Read more for our analysis, team news, and match predictions.

India - Netherlands: Form Analysis
India are top of the group with three wins out of three. The 61-run win over Pakistan on Sunday was the cherry on top, as the comprehensive victory over their arch rivals underlined their strengths.
The ‘Men in Blue’ have had their discomforts against the USA, but comfortable wins over Namibia (93 runs) and Pakistan got them back in the fast lane. They are now set to face South Africa in their first Super 8 game on 22nd February, so their concentration will be on that fixture.
India have won their last 11 completed World T20I games.
The Dutch were thrashed by the USA in a 93-run defeat last Friday, which hampered their chances of progression. They defeated Namibia by seven wickets before that loss to have high hopes of at least getting four points from this campaign!
While the Orange aren’t as experienced as their Indian counterparts in T20s, they can be a tough cookie, as South Africa found out in the 2022 T20 World Cup. That said, five defeats in their last six World T20s doesn’t picture a confident side coming into this crucial contest.

India & Netherlands Squad Analysis
India fielded an extra spinner in Kuldeep Yadav when they played in Sri Lanka but could revert to a seamer back in Ahmedabad. That depends on the type of soil, though, red or black. A seaming pitch would open the doors for Mohammed Siraj or Arshdeep Singh, with Kuldeep Yadav likely to make way.
Ishan Kishan (158 runs, 2x50, SR 197.50) remains India’s best batter of the tournament. There are question marks over Abhishek Sharma’s form, but the bowlers led by Varun Chakravarthy (six wickets, ER 5.33) are leading India’s charge.
Abhishek Sharma has four ducks in his last six T20Is.
The Dutch have resisted replacing the misfiring Max O’Dowd at the top, despite just 25 runs in the tournament (SR 96.15). That has put pressure on their talisman, Bas de Leede (125 runs, SR 138.88), to deliver every match.
He has also been their best bowler in the tournament (five wickets, ER 8.23), although Logan van Beek (four wickets, ER 7.90) has been chipping in regularly.
India - Netherlands Key Points
- India won nine of their last ten completed T20Is.
- The Netherlands lost four of their last five completed T20Is.
- Ishan Kishan scored 29 or more in four of his last six T20Is.
- In eight of his last 11 T20s including for his state, Ishan Kishan scored at least 29.

Our India vs Netherlands Prediction
India ambushed Pakistan at the weekend, underlining their status as one of the top favourites. They have an upcoming Super 8 game against South Africa to plan for, but there are still some rough edges to smoothen. Top-order batters aren’t up to scratch, while the bowlers haven’t really dominated the middle overs. The Netherlands aren’t likely to take it lying down, considering they ran Pakistan close earlier in the tournament.
The red-hot Ishan is likely to keep scoring, and our India vs Netherlands prediction is Ishan Kishan over 28.5 runs.
India vs Netherlands Alternative Predictions
Abhishek Sharma to score fifty
Abhishek Sharma established himself as one of the most destructive batsmen in this format. He’s the top-ranked T20I batsman but started the World Cup with two ducks. In fact, he has five career ducks in the T20Is, and four of those have come in his last six matches. He’s due for a big score, and this could be his chance.

The 20 qualifying teams were divided into four groups of five each. In the group stage, each team plays each of the other teams in the group once in a round-robin format, and the top two teams in each group will advance to the Super 8 stage.
In the Super 8s, the teams would be placed into two groups of four teams each. Prior to the tournament, the ICC announced the eight seeded teams based on the ICC T20I rankings, who will be placed in predetermined positions in the Super 8 stage, irrespective of their position in the group stage. If an unseeded team qualifies at the expense of a seeded team, it will take the position of the corresponding seeded team that fails to qualify from their group. In the Super 8 stage, each team will play against each of the other teams in the group once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which consists of two semi-finals, the winners of which face off in the final. No points would be carried over between stages.
