Top seed Iga Swiatek and 26th seed Linda Noskova are set to battle yet again in 2024 with their scheduled tie in Miami. They will square off in the third round with the winner playing either Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or Ekaterina Alexandrova next. This will be the third encounter between these two players this season. Swiatek won the most recent meeting three weeks ago on her way to securing the Indian Wells title. This was her second victory in three matchups with Noskova. Currently, on a seven-match winning run, the Pole will be confident of another victory here. Swiatek, who has won 21 of 23 fixtures this season, defeated Camila Giorgi in her opening tie. She dominated the Italian and allowed her just two games as she won in one hour and seven minutes. The world number one triumphed here in her last appearance which was two seasons ago.

Linda Noskova produced one of the shock results of this season when she eliminated Swiatek at the Australian Open. She won in three sets in the third round and went on to make the quarterfinals in Melbourne. This was her best-ever result at a major and she will be hopeful for at the very least a similar run here. Noskova is in her second appearance in Miami and has already eclipsed her best result of a second-round finish last year. She defeated the qualifier Maria Timofeeva by the loss of eight games in the last round. This was the 14th win of a superb campaign for the Czech who has lost just five times thus far. The highlight of her season was achieved in Brisbane where she made the semifinals. She has however not gone past the third round at any of the WTA 1000 tournaments she has participated in. The 19-year-old has moved up one place to 30th in the live ranking. A win here will see her set a new career-high world ranking.
