Holger Rune vs Pablo Carreño-Busta Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP National Bank Open

For the second round in a row, 13th seed Holger Rune faces Spanish opposition. He takes on unseeded Pablo Carreno Busta for a place in the last 16 of the Rogers Cup, also known as the National Bank Open. Here's our match prediction.

Rune beat Roberto Bautista Agut in round one but had to go to a final set, losing the second one. The world number 17 is up two places in the live rankings after that win. His last tournament was played on clay and he got to the last eight in Hamburg.

Now he returns to hard courts and had some good results on the surface earlier in 2024. His best performance saw him get to the final of the tournament held in Brisbane in the first week of the year. Since then he's reached two semi-finals and one other last eight appearance.

Pablo Carreno Busta has had three previous matches against Rune and won them all but this is their first match in two years. Two of the wins came on a hard court but for the previous matches, Busta was the higher ranked player.

That's not the case now and the Spaniard was 799th in the latest rankings. He missed six months due to elbow surgery and only made his return at this year's French Open. He's struggled since his comeback with four out of five matches being lost.

This is his first hard court tournament of the year. He got off to a good start with a come-from-behind win over Fabian Marozsan. This is tougher and we tip Rune to win in straight sets.
