Holger Rune is the 15th seed for the Cincinnati Masters but has been given a nightmare first round draw. He takes on wild card Matteo Berrettinini who has been in excellent form in recent weeks. Here's our match prediction.

Berrettii is making his way back up the rankings after time out due to injury and illness. He's 42nd in the live rankings and a good run in this hard court Masters event might just take him back into the top 32 and a seeding at the US Open.

The Italian has won both of his last two tournaments played in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel but they were on clay. Now he returns to hard courts, a surface on which he hasn't played a great deal this year. One Challenger Tour final has been reached by Berrettini on this surface in 2024.

Holger Rune may be the seeded player in this match but he's the underdog with the bookmakers. He's 16th in the live rankings but not in the greatest of form. In Montreal last week he was beaten in the last 16 by Alexander Zverev.

He's shared the two matches that have taken place between these two players on hard courts. The one he won saw Rune win all seven games played before his opponent retired. A tougher task lies ahead in this match.

Only two of his last five hard court matches have seen him make it to the last eight. This is a tough opener and we tip Berrettini to get the victory and set up a match against either Adrian Mannarino or a qualifier.
