Gloucester only have Newcastle below them in the English Premiership. They host Northampton Saints on Saturday who are fifth in the table. The home side have been struggling in the English Premiership this season with two wins and six defeats. Their season began well with wins over Harlequins and Newcastle but since then since six league fixtures in a row have ended in defeat. Their most recent league defeat was a heavy 51-26 loss away at local rivals Bristol. That made it 89 points conceded in their last two league matches. There has been improved form shown in the European Challenge Cup with wins over Black Lion and Clermont but they face a tough game back in their domestic league.

Northampton Saints begin the weekend only two points behind leaders Sale Sharks. They are in the play-off positions but one place below automatically going into the semi-finals. The Saints have been in good form both domestically and in the European Champions Cup. Four of their last five English Rugby Premiership games have been won, including the last two at home to Harlequins and away at Saracens. They also won both of their European fixtures too with victories at Glasgow and home to Toulonnais. On the road in this competition they have won two but also lost a couple at Sale and Leicester. This could be a tight match but Northampton Saints look to be in the better form and don't concede anywhere near the number of points their opponents do, so we go for an away win.
