Premiership Rugby enters matchday six with eighth-place Gloucester playing host to the ninth-placed Leicester Tigers. Both teams have some work to do if they are to get back into the playoff hunt with nearly a third of the season already in the books. Gloucester trail the top four by eight points as they desperately look to put an end to their current losing skid. The Cherry and Whites have now lost their last four in a row following a slim 25-24 defeat to Exeter last weekend. The result brought them to a record of only two wins and four losses on the year. An encouraging aspect of the defeat was that Gloucester broke the 20+ points mark for only the second time in the last four games. However, their defense continues to let them down and they currently have the second-worst points difference in the league. 

Leicester find themselves in a similar position with an identical 2-4 record to their opponents today. However, the Tigers sit on a points total of just 10 points, putting them nine points off the top four and seven points ahead of rock-bottom Newcastle. The Tigers were able to snap a two game losing streak in their most recent outing with a 26-17 home win over Northampton. It was the first time all season that Leicester were able to hold their opponents to under 20 points. They’ll now take to the road where they are 1-2 on the year. Their only road win came in matchday three where they edged a 25-24 victory over Bath.
