Glasgow Warriors look to make a winning start to their 2023-24 European Rugby Champions Cup campaign. They host Northampton Saints in Pool C, the first of five games to be played. Also in Pool C are Munster, Bayonne, Exeter Chiefs and Toulon with the top four going into the last 16. Glasgow are currently second and three points behind Leinster in the United Rugby Championship with five wins and two defeats in their seven games. Last weekend saw them lose 40-29 at Munster (also in this pool) and that ended a run of They are strong at home with all four of their games in the United Rugby Championship being won. All of those home victories have been achieved with a double-figure winning points margin. Last season saw them get to the final of the European Challenge Cup but lost to Toulon. They last got to the quarter finals of this competition in the 2018-19 season.

Northampton Saints are fifth in the English Premiership. They have won their last two matches and last weekend won 18-12 at Saracens. That followed a 36-33 home win over Harlequins in their previous fixture. Their season record is now five wins and three losses. Away league form has produced a couple of wins and two defeats.to Sale Sharks and Leicester Tigers. The other away victory came at bottom-of-the-table Newcastle Falcons but only by a couple of points. It's 23 years since they won their only European Rugby Champions Cup and 12 since last getting to the final. This is a tough start to this pool and we go for Glasgow to get a home victory.
