Norway have to beat Germany to finish top of Group III in the main round of the Men's World Handball Championships. Germany are ahead of Norway on goal difference going into this final group game. Both teams have already qualified for the quarter finals. The group winners will take on Spain in the last eight, the runners-up will be up against France. Norway have won all five of their matches in these championships and finished ahead of the Netherlands, North Macedonia and Argentina to top their preliminary round group. Moving into this main round group, they have maintained their 100% record with victories over Serbia (after trailing at half time) and then a convincing win over Qatar. They have won their last ten matches but will need to make it 11 to win this group.

Germany only need a draw to win the group. They have also won all five of their matches in these 2023 Men's World Handball Championships. The Germans have reached the quarter finals for the first time since 2019 when finishing in fourth place. The preliminary round saw them win Group E with maximum points, finishing ahead of Serbia, Qatar and Algeria. They struggled to get three wins out of three though with a single goal win over Serbia and a four-goal winning margin against Qatar. This main round group has produced wins over Argentina and the Netherlands.  They lost their last international against Norway in 2021 and a similar result looks likely here.
