Frances Tiafoe is playing in the semi-finals of this tournament for the first time. He is in good form at present after a quarter-final in Delray Beach last week. The 28-year-old has made it to the last four for the loss of only one set in round two against Aleksandar Kovacecic.
In the quarter-finals, Tiafoe defeated Mattia Bellucci 6-3 6-4 and is up to 24th in the live rankings.
Brandon Nakashima has reached the Acapulco semi-finals for the second year in a row. He has lost six of his seven previous matches against Tiafoe and is 4-1 down on outdoor hard courts. That includes a win for Tiafoe here five years ago.
The 24-year-old had to come from a set down to beat sixth seed Valentin Vacherot in the last eight. He's 30th in the live rankings and a win over Tiafoe will take him into his second outdoor hard court final of 2026.
