30th seed Jiri Lehecka takes on unseeded Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the Madrid Masters final. The winner of this match will face either seventh seed Andrey Rublev or the 12th-seeded Taylor Fritz. The quarter-finals of this outdoor clay court tournament weren't the most exciting for the fans. These two semi-finalists only played one set of tennis between them. Jiri Lehecka won the first set against third seed Daniil Medvedev who then retired due a leg injury. As for his opponent in this semi-final, he didn't have to play at all after scheduled opponent Jannik Sinner withdrew due to a leg injury.
Lehecka was ranked 31st in the last list but this run to the last four in Madrid has taken him up to 22nd in the live list. Beating Auger-Aliassime will take him up to 20th. Before the win over Medvedev, Lehecka has had three straight sets wins over Hamad Medjedovic, Thiago Monteiro and Rafael Nadal without losing a set. He leads his opponent 1-0 in previous meetings but the win he had was on a hard court. Auger-Aliassime had been struggling to be seeded at Roland Garros after slipping out of the top 32. The Canadian is now up to 28th and can climb as high as 25th if reachg this final. He's beaten three seeds (one via a walkover) with the others being Adrian Mannarino and Casper Ruud. This could be a tight match but Lehecka looks in good form and can get the win.
