Faroe Islands continue their 2024 Men's European Handball Championships campaign with a match against Norway. This is a Group D match with the other two participating countries being Poland and Slovenia. Norway got their campaign off to a winning start with a convincing 32-21 win over Poland on Thursday evening. They are hoping this year will be the one in which they make their first appearance in the final of the European Championships. They were close in 2020 but finished in third place. Two years ago they were fifth but came into these championships having won 14 of their last 17 matches in the finals. That became 15 out of 18 after they beat Poland in their opening group fixture. Recent form before this tournament began saw them lose only one of their last four games, losing a friendly to Egypt. Eight of their squad have played over 100 internationals with their top scorer being Sander Sagosen who is only seven goals short of 800.

Faroe Islands are competing in their first ever European Championships finals. They've also never played in a World Championships tournament either. To qualify for these finals they finished third in their group behind Austria and Romania but ahead of Ukraine. Two of their six matches were won with wins against Romania and Ukraine. That saw them get through to their first finals as one of the best third placed teams. Form coming into this tournament saw them win two friendlies against Belgium. Before that though they had lost two friendlies against Iceland and a Euro qualifier in Austria. Their opening group game saw them beaten 32-29 by Slovenia. The first half was drawn 13-13 but Slovenia put their experience to good use to edge out the Faroes. We tip Norway to get the win here on a -7.5 goals handicap.
