Holger Rune is the sixth seed and only playing the Miami Open for the second time. He takes on unseeded Fabian Marozsan in round two with the winner facing either 26th seed Jiri Lehecka or unseeded Alexei Popyrin in the last 32. Rune reached the fourth round in his only previous appearance in this outdoor hard court Masters 1000 event. He's seventh in the latest world rankings and 16th in the Live ATP Race. This is his seventh tournament of the year and he's reached at least the last eight in four of the previous six. He got to the final in Brisbane and the semi-finals in both Montpellier and Acapulco. His last tournament was in Indian Wells where he lost in the quarter finals. He beat Taylor Fritz on the way but was then beaten by Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

Fabian Marozsan beat qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic in the first round for the loss of only five games. He's up to 51st in the live rankings after that win. He's also been showing some good form on outdoor hard courts and got to the last 16 at indian Wells. This is his first time playing the Miami Open and his best performance in a Masters event is last year's quarter final in Shanghai. His win over Kovacecic took him to 53rd in the ATP LIve Race. The pair have never met in the past and we tip Rune to get the win in this first ever meeting.
