After a dramatic draw on the opening weekend, Exeter Chiefs will look to bounce back as they host Newcastle Red Bulls (formerly Newcastle Falcons) in this Premiership Rugby matchday two fixture on Saturday. After a largely underwhelming campaign last term, Exeter Chiefs have underlined their intent for a stronger showing in the English top tier this season. They began their campaign with an impressive 23-14 victory over title-holders Bath in Premiership Cup opener.
This was followed by another elite-level performance against last season’s Champions Cup finalists Northampton Saints in their Premiership Rugby opener last week. Newcastle Red Bulls got off to a promising start, defeating Harlequins 26-14 in their Premiership Cup opener. However, their persistent misfortunes were far from over. They were humbled at home by 14-man Saracens at the weekend, losing 39-17.
