Having retained the Ashes in the 2nd ODI, Australia Women will be looking to rub salt in the wounds of the England Women in the third and final ODI of the series. The multi-format series is now 8-6 in favour of the visitors, and being the current holders, they will not be dethroned in the event of a tied series. Yet another Ellyse Perry masterclass in the last match made the difference as she recorded 91 runs in 124 balls to get her side to 282/7 batting first. Annabel Sutherland also notched a half-century in 47 balls, while Georgia Wareham smashed a quick-fire 37 from just 14 balls at the death. The match went down to the wire, but the force that is Australia showed as Alana Kim and Ashleigh Gardener got their side over by holding the English to 279/7, three short of the target. Australia will likely make several changes to their side in this one, but they will certainly still be expecting to win the final match of what has been an absorbing series. 

Meanwhile, like the men’s side, the England women were making an incredible comeback up to the last match. After losing the Test and first T20, the hosts stormed back to win the next three matches on the bounce to level the series. In the last match, Nat Sciver-Brunt headlined for England, scoring the only century of the match, while Tamsin Beaumont got 60 from 62. It’s hard to falter the English in a match that was so close the entire way, but that is why the Australians are the world leaders. Nevertheless, there is pride at stake, and a drawn series is always better than an outright loss. England will throw everything they have into this one.
