Emil Ruusuvuori and Luca Van Assche will square off in the first round at the Open 13 Provence. This will be the first-ever encounter between these two unseeded players. The winner will battle either Gregoire Barrere or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina for a place in the quarterfinals. Emil Ruusuvuori is returning to Marseille after a two-year hiatus. With the support of the home crowd, he will be hoping for a winning start in his return to Marseille. The young Frenchman made his Open 13 Provence debut last year and failed to go past the first round. Van Assche isn’t at all a dominant player on hard courts and has yet to win double-digit matches on the surface. This match is therefore expected to be a tough one for him as Ruusuvuori favours hard courts more than any other surface. The current French number four, has moved up 11 places to number 68 in the live ranking.
