After sailing through the qualifying rounds, Elsa Jacquemot will be taking on Magdalena Frech in the first round at the Beijing Open. This match represents the fifth meeting between the two and a second this year. Frech has lately dominated opponents outside the top 100, and our prediction is for the Pole to win.

Jacquemot has had a poor season in 2026, failing to win back-to-back matches for about eight months. As such, she has a 5-10 record in the first round and comes here as the underdog.

The 23-year-old is on a losing record at 15-28 and comes here placed 148th in the live ranking. Starting her third appearance in Beijing, Jacquemot has only won four times in 20 meetings with top 50 players.

Frech has had a good run in recent times and looks to build on her performances in North America. She reached the quarters in Guadalajara and will be looking at this as a manageable outing, given her head-to-head advantage.
