Eliina Svitolina has had an excellent clay court season so far. The second round of the Italian Open sees the 16th seed face unseeded Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Here's our prediction of this match.

The world number 14 has already won one clay court tournament this year. That was in the Open de Rouen and the 30-year-old followed that up with a run to the semi-finals of the Madrid Open. The Ukrainian had won 11 consecutive clay court matches (all in straight sets) before losing to Aryna Sabalenka.

Only six players have earned more ranking points than the Ukrainian this year. The winner of this match will take on either 19th-seed Liudmila Samsonova or a qualifier in round three which is the last 32.

This is the third match between these two players. Both have been won in straight sets by Svitolina. One was played on clay and that was in the quarter-finals of the recent Rouen tournament. Maneiro is up to 65th in the live rankings, 13 places below her career-high.

The Spaniard has won six of her nine clay court matches this year with two quarter-finals reached. The first round of this WTA 1000 tournament saw the 22-year-old beat Ann Li in three sets.
