Elena Rybakina, the third seed at the Miami Open, meets fifth seed Jessica Pegula in the third quarter-final at the event. This match will be the ninth meeting between the two, with the winner setting up a clash against Aryna Sabalenka or Hailey Baptiste. Read on for our prediction.

Rybakina and Pegula are already facing off for the third time this year alone. In January, Rybakina beat Pegula 2-0 on her way to winning the Australian Open and at Indian Wells over a week ago.

With four straight wins in this matchup, the Kazakh will be confident coming here, having also not dropped a set so far. She overcame Talia Gibson in the last round and enters this one placed second in the live rankings.

Pegula enters this match desperate to halt Rybakina’s dominance. The American has won three of their eight meetings, with the last being in 2023. In her last four meetings with the world number two, Pegula has only managed to win one set.

However, she will be fired up for this, coming here on three straight wins without dropping a set. Pegula has also spent close to one hour less than Rybakina on the court.

In the last round Pegula beat Jaqueline Cristian to go 19-3 for the season. Her sights are set on winning her second title this season, having claimed the Dubai one.
