The qualifier Diane Parry will take on unseeded Veronika Kudermetova in the first round at the Bad Homburg Open. These two are set to meet in a Tuesday clash. A second-round battle with either Caroline Wozniacki or Elina Svitolina will then follow for the winner here.
Parry is having an exciting campaign on grass and will hope this continues as she makes her debut in this event. The Frenchwoman recorded her best result of the season in Nottingham where she produced a semi-final finish right before arriving here.
She has won four of the five matches she has played on grass. Parry, who is ranked 53rd in the WTA, defeated German Jule Niemeier in three sets to progress to the main draw. That was her fourth win in five matches and she comes here with some momentum.
Veronika Kudermetova has been in good form as the season switched to grass
Veronika Kudermetova is coming off a straight sets loss to Elena Rybakina in the second-round at Berlin, where she started off as a qualifier.
The Russian has had a shaky campaign but her fortunes are taking a turn for the good as the season switches to grass. It is the only surface she has compiled a winning record.
Kudermetova has won four of her six fixtures on grass and improved her record to 11-15. With this upturn in form and her head-to-head advantage over Parry, she will be confident of making a winning start here. Kudermetova defeated Parry two seasons ago in Monastir. The former world number nine begins the week placed 36th in the live ranking.
