DHL Western Province vs Hollywoodbets Sharks Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

Coastal rivals Western Province and the Sharks will face off in week eight of the 2024 Currie Cup at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in sixth place in the standings, while the visitors are fourth.

Western Province are running out of time to secure a knockout spot as they enter week eight on 14 points, trailing the top four teams seven, which makes almost every match from here on a must-win. 

Last week, Province made the trip to Johannesburg to face the high-flying Golden Lions and suffered their fifth defeat of the competition, going down 41-22, and failing to earn a bonus point. 

To date, the men from the Western Coast side have notched up just two wins, both of which were against minnows the Griffons and they will undoubtedly be fully tested this week by the Sharks.

Meanwhile, the Sharks find themselves in an awkward position, currently holding on to the fourth and final qualification spot, though with only a two-point advantage over fifth-place Pumas, they cannot come away empty-handed this weekend. 

The Durbanites put in an excellent shift last week in the Free State, beating the defending champion Cheetahs 25-20, extending their unbeaten run to four matches, including three wins and a draw. 

Notably, three of those four wins came on the road, and last season’s semi-finalists will need a similar performance here to keep themselves in knockout qualification contention.
