Tenth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas begins his Miami Open campaign. He faces Denis Shapovalov with the winner taking on either 17th seed Alexander Bublik or unseeded Matteo Arnaldi in the third round of this Masters tournament. Tsitsipas is the world number 11 but only 23rd in the ATP Live Race at the time of writing this article. He's reached the fourth round of this outdoor hard court tournament on a regular basis. His last four visits have seen him get that far and in 2021 he made it to the last eight. The Greek made it to the last 16 at Indian Wells in his last tournament and that included a win over Frances Tiafoe. That continued his consistent form in outdoor hard court events with a semi-final in Los Cabos and last eight in Acapulco. He trails Shapovalov 3-2 in previous meetings but won their most recent one played last year but that was on clay.

All three of the wins Shapovalov has had over Tsitsipas have come on outdoor hard courts. They came between 2018 and 2020 and the Canadian's form has dipped since then. He's down at 126th in the latest rankings and got into the main draw here on a protected ranking. The first round saw him beat Luciano Darderi but it took three sets (middle set lost) and nearly two and a half hours to get the victory. Shapovalov lost in round two at Indian Wells and has only won three main draw matches this year. We go for Tsitsipas to get a straight sets victory.
