Spaniard Jaume Munar takes on Belgium's David Goffin in round one of the Winston Salem Open. The winner will face the fifth seed Luciano Darderi in the next round of this hard court tournament. Read our match prediction. 

Munar is at 81st in the live rankings and that's only eight places above his opponent. The Spaniard played in Cincinnati this week and won two matches to make it into the main round. He then lost in three sets to Jack Draper, winning the middle one.

Those wins in Cincinnati were appreciated as he'd lost his four previous matches. His best results do come on clay and 2024 has seen him play 11 hard court matches with only four being won. At the time of writing this, he's 67th in the Live ATP Race.

David Goffin is 82nd on that list and his most recent tournament was on the Challenger Tour. He reached the last four of the Carey Classic losing to top seed Roman Safiullin in straight sets, both being decided by a tie-break.

The Belgian was ranked seventh seven years ago but has struggled in recent years. He'll hope for a better run in the US Open this year as he hasn't won a match in that hard court Grand Slam since 2020. Before that he'd reached the fourth round four years in a row.

Goffin hasn't won two matches in the main draw of an ATP Tour hard court match this year. We tip Munar to get the win here.
