We will have an unseeded player in the final of the Halle Open. Daniel Altmaier will hope to reach the final in his home country of Germany but has a tough task against Frances Tiafoe. He has never beaten his opponent, most recently losing to him last week and our prediction is a Tiafoe win.
The winner will take on either Alexander Zverev or Taylor Fritz in the title decider.
Not since Florian Mayer in 2016 has a German player won this grass court tournament. There is the chance of an all-German final this year though.
Altmaier received a wild card to play in this tournament. Both of his last two wins have come in three sets and on Friday he beat the fourth seeded Daniil Medvedev. Before this year, he'd never got past round one here.
Frances Tiafoe leads 4-0 in previous meetings with Altmaier. He beat him in straight sets in Stuttgart last week.
Tiafoe went on to reach the quarter-finals of that tournament.
He has beaten two seeded players to reach this semi-final. After beating sixth seed Flavio Cobolli in round one, he defeated second seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals. He has won one grass court title, being successful in Stuttgart three years ago.
