A huge Central Division matchup pits top against second as the 25-17-9 Dallas Stars welcome the 37-15-5 Winnipeg Jets. This is a massive game for the Stars if they want to win the division, level on points with the Jets but they have played four games more. Their hopes of a division title have been given a few knocks in the last 10 days or so, including a 1-5 loss in Colorado against the Avalanche who closed the gap down to just two points behind the Stars with a game in hand. They have scored the third most goals in the NHL this season, but that has deserted them of late with their joint top goalscorer Roope Hintz scoring twice in his last 14 games and their top point scorer Jason Robertson with two in 13.
The Jets will arrive with some revenge on their mind. They have lost in regulation just seven times at home this season but two of those have come at the hands of these Stars. Shutout in one of them and restricted to just two goals in the other, they have struggled to break the Stars down. Very slow to come back from the All-Star Break, they only netted four times in their first four games back but have not failed to score less than three in each of their last six. Connor Hellebuyck is putting together a better season than when he won the Vezina Trophy for the top goalie in the league in the 2019/20 season. He is a huge reason why the team lead the league in goals conceded and he leads the league in goals against average and is second in save percentage.
