Cork City face a tough task if they want to reach the second qualifying round of the Champions League. This is their first appearance in the Champions League since the 2006/07 tournament when losing in the second qualifying round. Cork have never made the group stages of the Champions League and it's hard to see them getting anywhere near them this season. They have only ever won one Champions League match and that was 12 years ago, since then they have played three, drawing one and losing the other two. With two defeats in their last three European games, they are going to be up against it in this match.
Legia Warsaw finished third in the Polish league only a point behind the champions Lech Poznan. It was their away form that cost them the title losing seven league games on the road. They are vastly more experienced in European competition than their opponents having reached the semi-final stage in both the European Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup, though both were achieved over 20 years ago. They reached the third qualifying round of this tournament last season and then got knocked out in the play-off round of the Europa League. Before that though the past three seasons had seen them twice in the group stages of the Europa League and once in the Champions League. Legia are unbeaten in their last 12 games and have won four of their last five Champions League matches. Go for Legia to get the win in this match to take a stranglehold on the tie.
